Our Favorite Place to Stay - Entre Vins et Fôret
#10 – Secluded South of France stone mas built 1833 – 4 bedrooms
Yes, this is a bit of self-promotion but as has been mentioned, we are fortunate to have a family home, a mas. ‘Mas” is the Provençal term for a traditional, rural house, usually made from stone. Ours was constructed around 1833 and was once a relay stop on the old, postal route. The neighboring property was a magnanerie, a place where moths were cultivated for silk. Silk production was a top economic driver in the region in the 18th century.
It’s located 20km from Uzès but only 5km from another charming village, Goudargues, with its own fabulous Wednesday market, grocery store, bakeries, and restaurants.
Our mas is secluded, at the end of a country road with lots of birdsong. A vehicle is required.
